On 24 April 2022, George Ewen (the son of our Managing Director) took part in the Madrid marathon to raise money for Vauxhall City Farm, an organisation close to WLS’s heart.

George completed the stunning 42km route through Madrid’s historic city centre with an impressive time of 03:38:01. Congratulations George! 

George shares what kept him going throughout the marathon:

Vauxhall City Farm

Just a stone’s throw from Big Ben, Vauxhall City Farm is one of the oldest and most central urban farms in London. Home to over 100 animals, the farm’s vision is a city where all communities are empowered to connect with nature to enhance their health, well-being, and life chances. They use the setting of their urban farm to provide a wide range of educational, recreational and therapeutic support programmes and activities.

Corporate Responsibility

WLS have been proud sponsors of Vauxhall City Farm for 15 years, installing and maintaining the farm’s fire alarm, CCTV and intruder detection systems. Alison Ewen, the wife of our Managing Director, also has a close bond to the farm. Alison has been a volunteer for over 20 years and is a trustee specialising in Riding for the Disabled activities.
