Our Work with Macmillan Cancer Support

Whether you’re a lemon drizzle fan, a chocolate fudge fanatic, or a devotee of the humble custard cream, you can’t beat a good coffee morning, especially if it’s for charity. That’s why the team at WLS decided to create our very own pop-up coffee shop in the office on Friday 28th September and we raised £210.68 as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in the process.

The team baked up a storm for days and ordered our Macmillan coffee morning kit weeks ago, enabling us to decorate the office and lay on a delicious spread of cakes, biscuits, and hot drinks.

Our philosophy is that cake is better when you share it – half the calories and twice the fun! – so we invited all our customers, neighbours, and the local community to come and join us as we enjoyed some sweet treats and natter while raising some money for a good cause.

Last year the Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised £27 million to help fund the vital work the charity does in supporting people who face cancer. The initiative has been running since 1990 and has so far raised more than £200 million to help Macmillan Cancer Support help people navigate their cancer journey, from diagnosis right through to remission.

We’re proud and excited to have done our bit – it involved cake and caffeine so it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Lots of friends, customers and colleagues supported us in raising some cash to help an inspirational charity continue its valuable work and we’d like to thank everyone who turned up, helped us work our way through the cake mountain and tipped in to help us enjoy achieve our total.
